Bornstein has around 25 sessions lined up for next week so far. (If you do the Baby Yoda Witch Hug Food City Happy Hallothanksween Shirt in other words I will buy this math, that’s already a $1,250 donation for the Food Bank for NYC right there.) For her very first FaceTime appointment earlier this week, Bornstein said she and the client worked on figuring out fresh new looks that didn’t involve having to buy any new product. “We made looks and she took pictures of them, and now she has a whole new folder of looks,” Bornstein says. Going forward, she hopes these sessions will continue offering a moment for clients to focus on themselves. “For a lot of women, even though it seems kind of frivolous, they do depend on things like getting a manicure or getting a blowout to make them feel good about themselves—just setting aside an hour to do something for themselves,” says Bornstein. “I figured this was a good hour to spend: going through your closet and not necessarily buying new things, but working with what we have.”
Bornstein’s FaceTiming-for-good has inspired other stylists to get on board too. Julia von Boehm, Nicole Kidman’s personal stylist, launched Donate With Style today: her video style sessions come in at $300 for 30 minutes or $600 for an hour, and are conducted via Zoom; she will be donating 100% of these proceeds to COVID-19 efforts. Though she has yet to choose one official cause or organization, she hopes to focus on donating to causes that aid in securing breathing devices for affected patients. “I’ve been reading a lot, and I think that’s what most countries are short on,” Von Boehm told Vogue. Alicia Lombardini, a stylist and the Baby Yoda Witch Hug Food City Happy Hallothanksween Shirt in other words I will buy this style director of Girls. Girls. Girls., was inspired to using FaceTime as well; she began the effort after initially chatting with Bornstein about the idea. “We share an office and she knows I style menswear clients for the red carpet, so we started discussing it and thought I could offer the same for men; women aren’t the only ones who may want a closet edit,” Lombardini says.
